Vendz B2B Marketplace
Engineering a secure, high-throughput multi-vendor digital logistics engine.
The Challenge & Context
Vendz’s supply chain platform suffered from real-time synchronization failures. Inventory state updates between distributors, warehouse managers, and bulk buyers experienced up to 10-minute delays. This led to double-ordered stock, broken checkout flows, and complex invoice reconciliation issues that blocked B2B customer onboarding.
Engineering Methodology
We rebuilt the backend data architecture on Supabase, leveraging real-time PostgreSQL replication triggers to push state updates instantly. We developed clean Prisma schemas to run transactions, and structured secure Row Level Security (RLS) policies to protect sensitive distributor logistics. A highly responsive Next.js frontend was integrated to handle complex vendor dashboards.
Architectural & Tech Rationale
Supabase and PostgreSQL provided real-time sync out-of-the-box, removing the need for heavy custom WebSocket servers. Prisma simplified schema generation and guaranteed high-speed developer handoff by auto-generating TypeScript models.
Quantified Business Outcomes
Real-time stock synchronization latency dropped from 10 minutes to under 150 milliseconds. Inventory double-orders were completely eliminated. The rapid launch timeline enabled the startup to deploy the MVP to market in under 6 weeks, cutting development handoff time by 40% and helping them onboard 50+ enterprise distributors.
